Yes, I’m still alive and (hopefully) back from my blogging hiatus.
On October 15th I ran (and yes, finished) my first marathon! I am officially a marathoner!
Part of the 1% of the population who has ever done one! My finish time was 6:08:44, which was down considerably from the race time predictor at Runners World’s website. Based on race finish times for recent races, they had me at 6:45, I registered with a projected finish of 6:30. So coming in at 6:08:44 for my first marathon makes me very happy! God is SO good!!! I thank Him so much for giving me what I needed to finish the marathon! I know there were so many times that it was only through Him that I could keep going!
Love these photos of me captured by the race photographers (yes, I HAD to buy their photos..it was my first marathon after all), I look so relieved to see the finish line!!
Of course…I have to try to beat that…so the very next day after marathon #1 I signed up for marathon #2!! I have to come in under 6 hours. I am also already signed up for the marathon again in DSM next year, because, I need to run that one in under 6 as well. Especially since it’s the same one I ran this year as my first. It will always be very special to me.
Along with trying to beat my time, I am also determined to up my training, do better with consistency and doing strength training on my non running days. Training for this race starts the day after Christmas! I have already tried to incorporate hill repeats/training into my regular running routine. I also fully plan on blogging more about my training, when the training went downhill so did my blogging. I was kind of ashamed of how badly the training went so I didn’t want to share it I guess.
This week I actually took time off to allow my Planter Fasciitis to heal. It hurt me really bad during last Saturday’s long run, and I ended up walking the last mile or so. Not good. So I have been resting it. So I haven’t run since Saturday, the 28th. But a week off isn’t going to hurt me too much, although it will if I can’t keep myself from eating all the left over Halloween candy!! EEK!
Today I went and got our daughter her first checking account! We also signed her up for Driver’s Ed this week, she starts on Monday. It’s crazy! They grow up so fast. Her brother turned 19 last week. Jeesh! Where’s the time go?
Well, I should go, I just wanted to update y’all on the marathon and give you a little update on us. I’ll save some for the Coffee Date link up on Saturday, which I fully plan on participating in again!
