Good morning peeps! I hope you all had a great week! In one week I went from Cashier at HyVee to Church Secretary. Yes, God blessed me greatly this week!
So, about a month ago our secretary at our church moved onto the next chapter in her life and left an opening that needed filled. I stepped up to volunteer to help out when I wasn’t working at HyVee, as I knew it would be alot for Pastor Rich and Pastor Chris to be doing secretary duties as well as their Pastoral duties. I knew I wanted the position too, so volunteering also helped me out. I was there for about 2 weeks when Pastor Chris text me and said he’d formally interview me on Monday if I wanted. Um…let me think..YES!! That text made my day. God knew I wanted it I guess. So Monday when I went in we sat and discussed the position, what was required, etc and I “Officially” start on Feb 1st!
I have been in there filling in as I mentioned, so yesterday I had to do an “office ready” selfie. Love this orange sweater I found at Kmart!
That’s another benefit to this job, other than volunteering at Informed Choices, I’ve never had a job where I got to dress nice and work in an office. So last weekend I went a little crazy buying clothes, and I didn’t even officially have the job yet! I knew I could wear them to church if it wasn’t in the office.
Not pictured is a cute black pencil skirt that I found at Kmart for $7! What a bargain! I usually do not like shopping for clothes, but my body looks a little different with all the running, so even though my stomach still looks like I’m about 5 months pregnant, it’s not so bad to shop for clothes. I need to work on my arms and shoulders in the gym this winter, those 2 tops are sleeveless. I never wear sleeveless!
As for the half marathon training..it hasn’t been going so well. Between the job at HyVee and the shorter days it made it very hard to train. Luckily I’m only a few weeks into my training plan and it will be much easier now with the Secretarial job. I’m doing every day by 1pm, so I’ll be able to run when I get home very easily.
I did run last Sunday and it was the first time in 11 days. How sad is that? It was a nice 6 mile run but man, my IT band was hurting at the end. OY. Not fun. I did whip out my phone and get some shots to share. There were hundreds of geese along the river.
I’ll be so happy next week when I can get back to my regular running routine. I have 6 miles planned for today as well. The high for today is 46! That’s awesome for this time of the year in Iowa. Hard to believe that Monday will be February already. I swear the older I get the faster time goes. Cliche’ I know, but true…
Another bonus to the new, steady hours at the new job is time at home. I’ll be better able to be there to school our kids (hard to homeschool when you’re at work all the time) and I’ll be able to blog more. I would really like to start planning my blog posts, joining more linkups and just really get back into the blogging community. I have missed it.
I’ll also have more time to better keep up with the house. Hubby has been doing a phenomenal job while I was at work, but it takes more than one to keep up. I started de-cluttering and organizing in the basement. I did the laundry/pantry about a week ago, I’m so pleased with how it came out.
I’m planning on making some cute little phrase with my Silhouette out of adhesive vinyl to complete the room.
Recently I had decided that having my medals from my races hanging in the living room was a little too prideful and that I should move them. So we went and bought a cute curtain rod and hubby hung it up for me above my desk in our master bedroom. He also hung up my pictures, bibs and my RW calendar. I’m so blessed to have him as my husband.
I was also spoiled last week by my 17yr old son who purchased a writing tablet for me to use when editing and doing things on my computer! I haven’t used it much, although my daughter, Abby played on it a little in Photoshop.
Speaking of Abby…this is currently the scene in my kitchen..ice cream and Oreos for breakfast!
Thanks for reading to the end of my ramblings!!
